How to Use Google Assistant When the Screen is off?

Turn on Unlock with Voice Match

Here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone.
  2. After that, select the option of Google.
  3. Then choose the ‘Account Services’ option.
  4. Move to the section of ‘Search, Assistant, and Voice.’
  5. Thereafter, tap the option of Voice.
  6. Beneath the section of Hey ‘Google,’ you will get the option of ‘Voice Match.’ Tap on it.
  7. When you locate the option to unlock with the voice match, switch the toggle to enable it.
  8. After turning on this setting, you will be capable of using the Google Assistant even when the screen is locked. You can trigger ‘Google Assistant’ by saying ‘Hey Google’ or ‘OK Google.’

Use a Bluetooth Headset

If you have a Bluetooth headphone, then you can use it to interact with Google Assistant. Here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. You have to open the Settings app on the mobile.
  2. After that, tap on the option of Google.
  3. Then, select the option of ‘Account Services’ and tap  on the option of ‘Search, Assistant, and Voice.’
  4. Thereafter, select the option of Voice.
  5. Beneath the tab of ‘Hands-Free,” switch the toggle of “Allow Bluetooth requests with device locked” to enable it.

Use Battery Optimizer Application on the Device

Follow the instructions mentioned below:

  1. Navigate to the Settings on the device.
  2. Thereafter, select the option of Apps.
  3. You should select the vertical ellipsis menu icon at the upper right side of the display.
  4. Then choose the option of ‘Special access.’
  5. Later, choose the option of Battery Optimization.
  6. Tap on  ‘Android Auto.’
  7. Ensure that you choose the option of ‘Allow’ for Android Auto.

By following the steps mentioned above, you will be able to use Google Assistant on your Android phone even when the screen is locked.
